6/10 USHER – LOOKING FOR MYSELF (SONY)
Nonetheless, as it is customary for those looking for themselves, a lot of wrong turns are taken and experimentation is the order of the day.

The album kicks off with the usual standard club fare that Usher has taken to lately instead of the ballads that  made him a huge chunk of change years ago.

I Care For You lets the listener in on some of his real emotions immediately after  the sexual innuendo of Climax.

Usher is playful in Show Me, which has a happy beat, with the singer seemingly at ease with himself.

Usher enlists the talents of Rick Ross in Lemme See to help cover the streetwise side of his demeanour. Pharrell Williams also weighs in on the album in the offering’s most interesting song, Twisted, a gem in the style of the swing era.

The title track, a tune of no particular genre, best describes Usher’s state of mind as he struggles to find out who he is.  – KN
