6/10 VARIOUS ARTISTS – CLUBLAND 2012 (DAVID GRESHAM RECORDS)

In terms of dance music, the compilation Clubland is first out of the blocks with chart-topping tracks like Joe Goddard’s Gabriel (featuring Valentina on vocals), Wolfgang Gartner’s Illmerica (which would fit well as part of a modern X-Files soundtrack), and, while on the topic of things extraterrestrial, DJs from Mars’ Insane In Da Brain, a catchy little number that could be useful to as insult inspiration.

The second disc offers a more international selection of tracks (as opposed to the first one that is focused on English and North American dance tunes) that includes Guantanamera by Emil Lassaria, Sak Noel’s Loca People and  Papa Loves Mambo by DJ Maxim.

But compared to other club hit compilations like Bump and  Now That’s What I Call Club Hits, sadly Clubland 2012 does not hold up too well. – SM
