This year, the foundation focused on creating awareness about the plight of orphaned and vulnerable children in South Africa.

Their 2012 beneficiary is the National Association of Childcare Workers (NACCW). The NACCW is an independent national agency involved with troubled children and youth at risk, and has been responding to the needs of this vulnerable demographic since 1975.

Locally, the NACCW is the professional child and youth care association, which includes an individual membership of 2 500 to date.

Internationally, it is constituted as the South African National Section of the Federation of International Educative Communities (FICE), the Unesco organisation responsible for child and youth care.

All funds raised at the charity auction will go directly to the charity and will not be used to fund the administration of deserving NGO.

In addition, Eskom employees  as members of their Guardian i-Volunteer (GiV) programme have been encouraged to give of their time and talents by adopting similar charitable organisations in their region.
