Australian survives five-storey fall with minor injuries

An Australian man taken to hospital on Saturday after jumping from the fifth floor of a burning apartment building amazed doctors by suffering only broken ribs.

SYDNEY - “To his great good fortune he’s landed on some bushes at the base of the building, where he was found,” New South Wales Fire and Rescue spokesman Tom Morrison told national broadcaster ABC.

The man leaped from his window in the east coast city of Newcastle because he could not find his keys to get out through the door.
