Violent norm
20 August 2012 | JOHN of Sunnyridge
The trade unions have become exceedingly powerful and are a law unto themselves. They have scant regard for anyone opposing them.
Safe in the knowledge that no action will be taken against them, protesters believe they are entitled to do as they please.
In this instance workers were told and asked to disperse on numerous occasions, bur refused to do so.
Unfortunately for them they, for the first time, were met with strong opposition, especially where it is alleged that they fired shots at the police, who retaliated in self-defence.
It is time the SAPS took appropriate action at violent protest rallies.
This avaricious government will have to wake up and realise that we are heading for a civil bloodbath if no action is taken. Government must start governing and fulfilling its promise for a better life for all.
Protesters are starting to arm themselves and violence is the norm.
