JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg police spokesman Lungelo Dlamini yesterday warned rowdy ANC Youth League supporters to behave or face the full might of the law.

This was after disgruntled youth league members went on the rampage yesterday, trashing streets and hurling rocks at members of the media during the disciplinary hearing of their leader Julius Malema.

The Citizen photographer Michel Bega, Sapa photographer Werner Beukes,  eNews journalists Belinda Moses and Cathy Mohlahlana, and The Star photographer Boxer Ngwenya fell victim to  stone throwing by  Youth League supporters.

Although  Youth League supporters ran amok yesterday, Dlamini said no arrests were made.

He said police officers managed to diffuse  a “volatile” situation.

While calm had returned for a couple of hours, another photo journalist was assaulted just after 2pm.

Law enforcers were forced to use water cannons to quell the violence.

Police also fired rubber bullets at a group of supporters who attacked a police Nyala.
