Actor faces an assault charge

According to Gauteng police spokesman Katlego Mogale, the 45-year-old actor was arrested in Honeydew on Saturday night.
“It is alleged that the suspect’s 28- year-old girlfriend registered a case of domestic violence with the police following an altercation with the suspect.
“It is further alleged that during the altercation, the suspect slapped the victim,” said Mogale.
While police could not name the suspect as he has yet to appear in court, social networking site Twitter was alive with speculation that the accused was Rapulana Seiphemo, known for his roles in local soaps Generations and Muvhango.
A tweet by @BongsMdak was shared multiple times yesterday: “Rapulana Seiphemo was nabbed for allegedly assaulting his “girlfriend” in Honeydew this morning at 4am. He is in holding cells in Roodepoort.”
Both ‘Seiphemo’ and ‘Honeydew’ were soon trending in the country.
This incident comes as many locals and the world at large are still reeling in shock following the death of Reeva Steenkamp, who was allegedly shot dead by blade runner Oscar Pistorius on Valentines Day.
Meanwhile, the ANC Women’s League (ANCWL) (AWL) says it’s extremely concerned about the high levels of femicide in the country.
In a statement, the league called for justice to be served in Pistorius’s case, who is due to return to court tomorrow for a bail application.
“The State has indicated via media reports that they have a strong case of premeditated murder against Pistorius and that they will be opposing his bail application.
“It is with this in mind that the ANCWL urge the magistrate to heed the call of the prosecutors in this case and deny bail,” the league’s spokesman Troy Martens said. –
