JOHANNESBURG -  Rantie is still at home in the Free State  waiting to discover his next move in football.

The 21-year-old striker spent last season on loan to two-time treble champions Orlando Pirates from Swedish club IFK Hassleholm, but his future is still undecided.

Rantie had a good season with Bucs, helping them to win a  treble and even earned himself a Bafana Bafana cap.

His form also attracted interest from a number of unnamed European  and local clubs during the pre-season but  no decision has been made.

Pirates are interested in keeping the youngster but it seems  they have so far failed to  reach  an agreement with the Swedish club to make the move permanent.

Pirates are in the third week of their pre-season and the player who scored eight goals  last season is in limbo not knowing what will happen.

Pirates administrative manager Senzo Mazingisa would only confirm that the player is not training with the team.

“Yes he is not here, he’s still at his home in Free State,” he said.

“I have just came back to the office   and I will have to check what’s happening regarding the issue of the player.”

Pirates coach Augusto Palacios said he would love to have Rantie in his team   next season but that it depended on the two clubs  making a decision.

Rantie’s manager, Nadim Magmoed, was not available for comment as his mobile phone was on voicemail yesterday.

Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns’ out-of-favour Ramahlwe Mphahlele could sign with Bloemfontein Celtic soon.

Mphahlele has been training on his own at Chloorkop after he was told that he was no longer in coach Johan Neeskens’ plans for the new season.

Celtic coach Clinton Larsen confirmed that the club is currently negotiating with Sundowns for the services of former Moroka Swallows and national Under-23  defender.

Mphahlele has failed to get a regular starting line up berth since his move from Swallows last year.

Former Pirates striker Katlego Mashego is also without a club after his contract with Golden Arrows was not renewed.

Mashego has been linked with a move to Swallows and Kaizer Chiefs, but nothing has been finalised.
