Baron: We need to beef up attack

JOHANNESBURG - The Clever Boys’ goalkeeper Emille Baron said the team needed to boost their attacking line to restore their pride on the domestic front.
So far the team have signed largely, who are defenders, something that concerns the former national goalminder.
“I think we need beefing up in front,” Baaron said. “Our problem has not been defending, but rather up front.”
Mokoena, a decorated international with over 100 caps for Bafana Bafana, has joined the Clever Boys with former Kaizer Chiefs’ defensive players Tlou Molekwane, Thomas Sweswe and Tinashe Nengomasha during the off-season.
But reports of relegated side Santos’ attacking player Erwin Isaacs joining the team have emerged, which should excite Baron.
But Isaacs’ signature is also sought by Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns.
With Wits having proved they have the spending power, it would not be surprising to see them landing the once exciting Isaacs after missing out on Eleazar Rodgers who signed with Sundowns from Santos.
But Baron, despite his misgiving, lauded the arrival of Mokoena and said it was a reunion for him and Mbulelo Mabizela.
“Aaron should play a huge role in the team. I think with me having already played alongside him and Mabizela at national level, it will not be difficult adapting to their style,” Baron said.
Baron added that the new PSL campaign, which gets under way next month, will not see his side do well in the first round and then fail to continue their form into the second as has been their norm in the past couple of seasons.
“I am praying that will not happen. But this game remains unpredictable as always,” he said.
