Two big names will come to Pirates - Khoza
24 July 2012 | NEVILLE KHOZA
JOHANNESBURG - Although the Iron Duke didn’t want to let the cat out of the bag, it is believed that Santos striker Erwin Isaacs and Tokelo Rantie could be the ones the chairman was referring to. Pirates and Swedish club IFK Hassleholm are stuck in negotiations for the permanent transfer of Rantie after his loan deal with Bucs expired at the end of last season.
Also, Pirates have targeted Isaacs over the past few seasons but Santos were reluctant to release him, but now that they are relegated to the National First Division, they are willing to sell the striker with a reported R3-million.
But the Sea Robbers are battling it out with rivals Kaizer Chiefs who are also interested in luring Isaacs to Naturena.
Khoza said that with the team venturing into Africa in search of Caf Championship glory, it is important to beef up their squad.
“We will be a team to beat this season and we have made sure we have signed good players,” he said. “But we are not done with signing, we will be bringing in two more players then we will be done,” he said. Speculation is rife that former Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane could join Pirates.
Khoza is a fan of Mosimane and the coach was reported to be on the verge of joining the Buccaneers before he joined the national team.
Mosimane is currently without a job after he was fired by Safa as a head coach last month and was seen among the VIP guest at Pirates’ end of the season awards ceremony at the weekend.
Meanwhile, the the Sea Robbers have also completed a three-year deal with Zimbabwean international striker, Takesure Chinyama.
