Baxter said his team were also unlikely to release players with the exception of one who may go on loan.

“We are satisfied with the composition of the squad. We will not be making any major signings nor we will  be letting go of any players,” Baxter said on the club website.

“We might release one player on loan to get game-time, but we do not want to make many changes and destabilise the team.”

Other PSL teams have been active in the transfer market, and it was anticipated that  Amakhosi would also be making signings to fortify their charge for the  Premiership trophy.

But that has not been the case. Chiefs went into the festive and Africa Cup of Nations recess on top of the PSL standings and look set to make a meaningful challenge for the title come May with a one-point lead over second-placed rivals, Pirates.

The striking department has been an area of concern as when  Bernard Parker is unavailable, Chiefs struggle for a dependable goalscorer.

It is an area which is lacking and Baxter and his management should have looked into strengthening it.

Meanwhile,  Ajax Cape Town have confirmed that SuperSport United striker Mabhudi Khenyeza is already in the Mother City for talks with the Urban Warriors.

“I am excited at the possibility of becoming an Urban Warrior again. I had a good time during my previous stay in Cape Town and will be hoping to finalise the move after talks with the club,” Khenyeza said.

Khenyeza had an impressive stint in the past at Ajax which saw him move to Mamelodi Sundowns but failed to get his star to shine until a move to SuperSport United.

His current season at Matsatsantsa a Pitori has been punctuated by controversy as he has already gone AWOL twice  with his coach Gavin Hunt publicly   venting his frustration about his player’s unknown whereabouts.

n French international Louis Saha is in the country hoping to finalise a deal. It is believed Sundowns and Wits are  interested in his services.
