Near-complete property exceeds all expectations

Situated on Burn Street, the property measures around 900m² and features the shell of a two-storey house.
Included on the ground floor is an entrance foyer, a breakfast room, a study, a guest cloakroom, a lounge, dining room and kitchen, a laundry and patio. A balcony and three en-suite bedrooms are located on the first floor. The property also features a double garage and domestic quarters.
For various reasons the property wasn’t completed but all the groundwork and major infrastructure is in place, says Du Toit. He adds that the property has all the makings of a really beautiful home and that all that was needed were the final touches and the right buyer for the property to become an address of note.
And the right buyer came along. Following a successful marketing campaign, the property attracted a large crowd on the day of the auction and a number of serious buyers came to the fore. After some fierce bidding, the property sold for
R2.3 million.
“We were surprised and pleased to see this property fetch such a good price,” says Du Toit.
A couple of factors worked in its favour. Firstly, Waverly is experiencing something of a revival and demand for property in the area is picking up significantly.
“The fact that this property is so well designed and that the bulk of the building work had been completed means that the new owner simply needs to add the final touches such as colours and fittings which obviously added to its appeal.”
