Pippie warms hearts
19 June 2012 | The Citizen
A victim of a New Year’s Eve braai accident, little Pippie suffered third-degree burns over 80 percent of her body.
It is difficult to imagine the trauma and pain that she has endured.
By all accounts Pippie has borne her burden with great courage.
Additionally encouraging in this instance are the outpourings of goodwill and generosity that saw a vast amount of money pouring in to help pay for the special medical attention she required.
South Africans never fail to open their hearts in such cases.
It is also good to know that our doctors remain at the forefront of medical expertise.
The delicate skin graft that Pippie underwent appears, at this stage, to have been a success.
There is still some way to go on the road to recovery.
She must come off the ventilator and be woken up.
There will be weeks in hospital, then a long rehabilitation.
So far, so good. Well done to all concerned.
