Common sense, Kate

Some British commentators have gone overboard in their condemnation of the French, Italian and Irish media that have published photographs of the Duchess of Cambridge, aka Kate Middleton, topless.

The pictures are indeed in poor taste.

Their publication betrays questionable judgment on the part of various editors.

However, we must also ask if the young royal couple are totally bereft of common sense.

Prince William is, after all, son of Princess Diana, who was hounded by the paparazzi even on the night of her death. Many would say that she died trying to avoid prying photographers.

There can’t be many people in the world who are more aware than William is of how intrusive snappers operate.

Kate must have picked up a few tips in her time with him. But neither seems to have engaged their brain in this matter.

It turns out that she who would be queen disported herself semi-naked on a pool terrace 1 000 metres from a public road.

This in a country famous for its ruthless paparazzi.

Royal game? Fair game? How clever is that?
