Limpopo tide turns on Julius PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 18 June 2010 14:36

JOHANNESBURG - The tide is rapidly turning against ANC Youth League (ANCYL) president Julius Malema in his home province Limpopo.

At least 350 branches have joined hands in demanding a fresh ANCYL elective conference in the province.

Malema’s opponents and detractors are accusing him of doctoring the outcome of a recent elective conference, which was marred by confrontation between the police and some ANCYL members.

“We the youth of Limpopo organised under the revolutionary undisputed banner of the ANCYL representing over 350 branches from across Limpopo have accepted that the prolonged toleration of injustice has a potential to be accepted as justice over time,” read a statement by the league’s Vhembe, Mopani, Peter Mokaba, Sekhukhune and Waterberg regions.

They expressed their unequivocal opposition to the charges brought up against former leaders of the league in Limpopo.

“We have learnt with shock and dismay about the charging of our leaders for reasons we found ludicrous.

“Our leaders are being charged for organising a legal conference to hand over power that was disrupted and collapsed by their own fellow leaders in the name of national office”.

They charged that Malema had instructed the police to chase out conference delegates who were opposed to his preferred candidates.

“We have tolerated the wrong things from the national office in the name of discipline and democracy yet we remain undermined as the basic units of the organisation – branches.”

The Citizen understands that Malema’s opponents have embarked on a campaign to find a suitable candidate to challenge him at the ANCYL congress next year.

Andile Lungisa is not seen as a strong candidate to unseat Malema.

  1. about time that malema realised we live in a democratic society and that millions are affected by his actions.
malema knows nothing about apartheid apart from what he heard through the grape vine, catch a wake up apartheid is dead, it is you who is re-awakening a dead beast that is well left alone. move forward, we all have. dont destroy our beautiful country with your ideals. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
  2. Julius calls himself a shining black diamond that whites are jealous of.The truth is that there are many black diamonds in Limpopo. There are entrepeneurs who deserve a share of the many contracts hogged by Malema. They achieved their skills through hard work and many sacrifices made by their parents. But as long as he and his cronies get all the tenders they will never shine. Because Malema lives in Gauteng the bulk of his spending and investing takes place in Gauteng and is lost to the Limpopo province . Were those tenders awarded to young contractors in Limpopo the economy in that province would have been stimulated big time.
No, he is not a shining black diamond, he is a flawed black diamond.
  3. Julius was too late to participate in the struggle and he is obsessed with creating a revolution just so that he can become a hero of a struggle. Can someone suggest to him that he makes his struggle the extreme poverty of the Venda people residing in the Northern part of the Limpopo province where in many schools the lack of education offfered is blatant abuse of the youth.
Anyone can shout inflammatory political rhetoric, insult people and act as rabble rouser, It takes a real man to be seen to try and make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged people. ANCYL must learn that they are there to learn to run a country efficiently and not just to rabble rouse and spew out political rhetoric .
Start by being useful to the youth.
  4. Apart from dividing the nation, voicing hate speech, partying, becoming a millionaire and abusing power, what has Malema to show for his presidency?
ANCYL will do itself a favour if it got rid of this man...
  5. It is very interesting that people are able to see what type of a hooligan is Malema and unfortunately it is too late. They are the ones who gave political power to him Bloemfontein and now they are compalining. This Malema thing was never a politician and he never lead any branch of his organization, he was paratuted from COSAS to provincial secretary by Mathale, from there to presidency and how do you expect him to understand structural operation? People must learn not to coclude about certain leaders without making proper self introspectations. Politics of blind loyalities are tempering with the independant thinking of our youth, young people are charecterised by patronage. What a shame politics of our country.
  6. Bye bye miss malemma pie.
  7. Malema is the worst kind of African scum - a 6 foot ditch is too shallow...
  8. I have always believed that there are supporters amongst the ANC youth who will eventually see the light and realise that Mr Malema is not who they think he is and that they will find the RIGHT person for the VERY IMPORTANT POST which Mr Malema holds.

As we all know the youth is the future of our conuntry and therefore it is imperrative that the ANC elect someone who will look out for their needs and also look after the needs of ALL South Africans in this country.
  9. Well the "Gory-Boy" is now feeling the pinch and punch of "stardom". And I love it, How mny times did the whole nation tell him that he was treading on uncharted ground....especially for the likes of his brain anyway. Julias a mesage from me to you....you should have taken me on with the challenge I gave you some time back but you declined and had you done so you may have learnt a lesson or two from a well nutured true South African who loves his country and the people therof for what they are...NOT for how much you can screw them over. Aaaah welcome to the hellhole you yourself have created. Hamba umfondini asifuna wen apha. Good bye and good riddens. Patick Wasdell will meet you in the street someday
  10. there is one thing that i am certain about the style of governance that the ANCYL has adopted. Some of the NEC member prior to Bloemfontein Congress ,never serve at any branch.those leaders like Pule Mabe who was an Azapo member are there because of the dirty wealth that the have accumulated through the tenderpreneur-ism.Malema is just a pupet who is being used by very calculative people.is time the ANCYL say to HELL with this Nonsense.
