Three arrested for rape of woman, 83

PRETORIA - Three men have been arrested for the rape and murder of an 83-year-old Pretoria woman, police said on Wednesday.

Inspector Duane Lightfoot said police arrested the trio in Ga-Rankuwa on Tuesday after a task team was set up to investigate the crime, committed on January 25, 2010 in Nieuw Muckleneuk.

"The three suspects are all in their mid-thirties and were arrested in Ga-Rankuwa and Atteridgeville respectively.

"They are still in custody pending investigation and will be appearing in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court tomorrow [Thursday].
