Zuma assets clarity due

JOHANNESBURG - Further news on whether President Jacob Zuma will declare his personal financial interests will be made public at 3pm on Wednesday, attorney Michael Hulley said.

"There will be a statement published on the presidency website at 3pm," said Hulley, declining to provide further information.

This follows the presidency's confirmation of a news report that Zuma had not declared his interests in terms of the Executive

Members' Ethics Act.

The presidency said there had a difference of opinion over

whether he had to declare his assets.

The DA has lodged a complaint with the Public Protector over the

matter.

In terms of the law, the declaration will have to be made to the

secretary of Cabinet, who is the director general in the

presidency.

The declaration consists of a public part, which is available

for scrutiny, and a private part, which remains confidential.
