DAILY I read of people being mistreated by the Metro Police, and have never really thought about it much until this weekend.

My sister’s fiancé drove out of a carwash in Midrand and was stopped by a Metro cop for running a red light. He was not near a traffic light, nor had he even passed a green one. The officer was arrogant and threatened to arrest him if he argued.

He then asked for his licence, which was at home due to the car being washed, and fined him R500 for not having his licence handy.

Who protects civilians from these morons who abuse their authority?
