DSD explains NPO appeal process

The Gauteng Department of Social Development encourages NPOs with unsuccessful 2025/26 funding applications to use the appeals process to ensure fairness, transparency, and a second chance at consideration.

The Gauteng Department of Social Development (GDSD) acknowledges the hard work and dedication of all the NPOs that submitted funding applications for the current 2025/26 cycle.

The department recognises the NPOs’ vital role in uplifting communities and supporting the most vulnerable members of society.

The GDSD understands that receiving an unsuccessful funding outcome can be disappointing and disheartening. In its continued commitment to fairness and transparency, the department has an appeals process for NPOs wanting their applications reconsidered.

If your funding application was unsuccessful, you have the right to appeal. This process allows NPOs to present additional information or clarify existing submissions to support their case for funding reconsideration.

The steps to lodge an appeal:
Receipt of regret letter: Through the relevant regional manager/directors, the department will issue a formal regret letter outlining the outcome of your funding application.

Appeals submission deadline: If your organisation wishes to appeal, you must submit your appeal within seven working days of receiving the regret letter.
