Alberton Police Station scoops two awards for best station of the year

The province and the city recognised the excellence within the Alberton Police Sation.

Showing excellence and dedication, the Alberton Police Station took top honours at the Gauteng Provincial Excellence Awards and the Ekurhuleni District Excellence Awards.

The Alberton station was named best station of the year from 2023 to 2024 at the Gauteng awards ceremony held at the Usambara Venue in Krugersdorp.

This award recognises the station’s outstanding performance, professionalism and commitment to promoting excellence and quality service in the province.

In addition to that win, Crime Information Management Analysis Center (CIMAC) and Management Information Center (MIC) members took first runner-up for admin of the year (2023 to 2024).

The provincial commissioner of police in Gauteng, Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, hosted the ceremony to celebrate SAPS members’ dedication and outstanding performance.

The station’s winning streak continued at the Ekurhuleni awards, also naming it the best station of the year (2023 to 2024).

The CIMAC and MIC members also took home the award for best Ekurhuleni district admin of the year on October 11.

The Ekurhuleni awards recognised excellence in 28 categories, including person with disability of the year, woman of the year and best crime prevention of the year.

SAPS members, senior officers from other law enforcement agencies and sponsors attended the event.

District commissioner Major General Anna Sithole highlighted the event’s significance, saying the awards honoured those who had gone above and beyond to serve and protect the community.

“We are recognising members who have gone beyond their call of duty to serve our communities,” she said.

The ceremony also recognised admin clerks and civilians who support the SAPS in their duties.

Other law enforcement agencies, including the EMPD, Gauteng Traffic Wardens, patrollers and CPFs also received awards for their partnerships in fighting and preventing crime.
