Alberton’s Newmarket precinct receives huge retail boost

To celebrate its grand opening on May 30, Town Square at Newmarket will host a series of special events, including live music, ribbon-cutting ceremonies, fun activities for children, and free prizes.

Town Square at Newmarket’s addition to the well-known and well-established larger Alberton business precinct boosts Newmarket’s reputation as the epicentre for one-stop shopping, recreation, health, medical and family lifestyle services.

It is set to open on May 30.

With a significant investment of some R745m and spanning an impressive 35 000m², Town Square at Newmarket is the result of a visionary collaboration between Rejem-Linton (Nedbank) JV.

“We’re proud to announce our latest premier shopping destination,” said Riaan Jonker, CEO of the Rejem-Linton (Nedbank) Joint Venture.

“Town Square at Newmarket will revolutionise the retail landscape in the larger Alberton area emphasizing our unwavering dedication to delivering unparalleled retail experiences.”

Considered the prime destination for residents seeking convenient one-stop shopping, the vibrant retail and medical node offers direct access to two state-of-the-art medical facilities, the Netcare Alberton Hospital and MediMix at Newmarket via dedicated pedestrian routes.

“The Newmarket precinct not only boasts excellent medical facilities such as Netcare Alberton and MediMix at Newmarket, but many other offerings such as a Makro, a variety in retail stores found at the very successful Mall at Newmarket, DIY and home décor available, to mention but a few,” said Ryan Robinson, development manager Jonker Evolution.

Designed as an open-air centre, Town Square at Newmarket boasts generously covered walkways and public spaces arranged in a horseshoe shape, seamlessly extending the shopping experience to the immediately adjacent Mall at Newmarket.

Timber composite cladding promotes sustainability while infusing warmth and natural charm, complemented by raw concrete columns imparting a sense of industrial chic, highlighting the harmony between nature and urbanity.
“Our open-air design supports green and sustainable principles,” said Faiz Cassim, financial manager of Jonker Evolution.

“Solar panels across the roof generate substantial electricity, reducing our carbon footprint while natural light lowers the need for artificial lighting, reducing energy consumption.”

Adding flavour to its offering, Town Square at Newmarket presents The Square at Newmarket, a multi-level addition overlooking a lushly landscaped children’s play park.
