Ward 37 Councillor Ivan Naidoo confirmed that an urgent meeting has been called with the Alberton Energy Department and the Head of Department (HOD) of Energy to address the situation.
“Councillors have an urgent meeting with the Alberton Energy department and the HOD of Energy at 13:00,” said Cllr Ivan Naidoo.

Residents and businesses in parts of Alberton are experiencing a power outage due to equipment challenges between Eskom and the City of Ekurhuleni, according to Ward 37 councillor Ivan Naidoo.
Naidoo confirmed that a load reduction schedule has been implemented to balance electricity distribution between industrial and residential areas.
“We are currently doing load reduction between industrial and residential areas. Alrode Industrial will be switched on during the day, while residential areas are scheduled to be restored at 16:30,” said Naidoo.
Naidoo assured residents that the next update on the situation would be provided at 14:00.
Power Outage Tips:
- Keep freezers and refrigerators closed.
- Use a generator, but ONLY outdoors and away from windows.
- Do not use a gas stove or oven to heat your home.
- Disconnect appliances and electronics to avoid damage from electrical surges.
- Have alternate plans for refrigerating medicines or using power-dependent medical devices.
- Check with local officials about heating and cooling locations open near you.
