Mr and Miss Alexandra registrations officially opened
Young people are called to pursue their pageantry and community service dreams as the registration for Mr and Miss Alexandra 2026 officially opens.
Aspiring models can now register to take part in the Mr and Miss Alexandra pageant as the registrations for the 2026 season are officially opened.
The organisation, which for years has been using pageantry as a platform to empower young leaders, is once again determined to welcome a new cohort of models that seek to drive societal change and play an active role in tackling a myriad of youth-related challenges in Alexandra.
Beyond the glitz and the glamour, the organisation, according to CEO Nomsa Motha, is a leadership and empowerment platform focused on mentorship, personal development, confidence building, and purpose-driven growth.
This year, the organisation has finally decided to add a new teen division to the pageant to cater for aspiring models between the ages of 15 and 17. Reflecting on the new teen division, Motha said they wanted to create a more inclusive and representative platform. “We have encountered many young girls and boys who have expressed a strong desire to participate in the competition. Unfortunately, the age restriction has often excluded them from being able to compete,” Motha explained.

“We believe it is important not to overlook this enthusiasm and potential.” Instead of inadvertently excluding teenagers from participating in the pageantry, Motha said they decided to introduce a division that will specifically meet their development needs.
Miss Alexandra 2025, Vanessa Mudau, said her title was not merely about adorning a shining crown and a sash; far beyond the glamour, it represents a position of responsibility, leadership, and service.
As the hunt for her successor begins, she said the next queen is expected to carry herself with dignity and grace, to articulate herself confidently on matters affecting young people. “Through charity work, mentorship, and community engagement, she is expected to encourage young girls to recognise their worth and potential, reinforcing the understanding that true beauty is reflected not only in appearance but also in character, intelligence, and kindness.”

For her, holding the title has honed her essential life skills, including effective communication, discipline, teamwork, and responsibility, skills she believes are essential for future leadership roles.
While the glorious day, for most, is the day of the crowning of new ambassadors, the learning journey for participants begins long before the main crowning event. “Activities we did before the pageant day were very educational. I have implemented some of the things I have learned there in my life,” former Mr Alexandra Lesego Mogabudi said.

He emphasised the significance of young men participating in pageants, noting that, beyond the spotlight on stage, the pageants were essential for growth. “At the end of the day, it’s not just about gaining popularity; it is also about your development as an individual.”
