Little bit of kindness goes a long way

Delicious home-cooked meals handed out to people in need.

Helderwyk Estates resident Irvin Tyler turned his goal of helping others into a reality on Saturday. He and a team of volunteers prepared meals and handed them out to the less fortunate in the community.

“I always wanted to do some charity work and felt that I could start by giving back to the less fortunate,” said Tyler.

“The idea has been with me for years and this year it has come to fruition. The idea is to gradually get more people involved in acts of kindness where people don’t necessarily have to donate cash, but can also offer their time and items.

“It was such a humbling experience to be able to do it and I hope that more people will get involved in the future.”

Fifty-eight meals were distributed by the team to people in need in areas near Mall@Carnival and East Rand Mall.
