The National Workplace Academy based in Randfontein has been hosting free sewing workshops in Khutsong since February. Those who participated in, and completed, the programme will receive certificates. The academy would also like to inform the people in the Merafong area about a training programme for cooperatives in the clothing sector. Those interested in this programme must be registered as a cooperative and their registration documents and tax clearance certificate will be required in order to participate in the initiative. Each cooperative can enrol 15 people
to take advantage of the eightweek training. The academy is also looking for women who can work with a knitting machine or have experience in hand-weaving or handmadeshoes. Call Audrey Barnard at 083 678 8217 for more information.
