Big soccer competition around the corner in Fochville
Many teams are expected to take part.
A local soccer academy will again host a big competition in the Fochville area next month.
According to the organiser, Tsholo Phato, the second Galaxy Sports Academy Youth Cup will take place from September 21 to 27 at the Gert van Rensburg Stadium in Fochville.
Teams will be able to compete in U11, U13, U15, U17 and U19 categories, while there will also be an open category for women’s teams. Phato says that last year’s event, which took place in December, was a great success and this year’s competition will build on that accomplishment.
The Kokosi Stars club won last year’s U11 and U13 categories, while the Potchefstroom Academy team from Ikageng was the U15 winners. KMV Academy from Ventersdorp was the U17 champions, while Team Never Rest from Fochville won the U19 category. “We aim to develop opportunities and create systems that allow for talent to be explored, nurtured and guided and to improve players at their sporting codes. We also keep players and spectators busy and entertained through school holiday programmes,” Phato added.
