Hundreds of residents attended a health event in Kokosi on 5 May.
People from Wedela, Khutsong and Fochville walked from the taxi rank in Kokosi Extension 5 to the Molahlehi Community Hall as part of the event. The Mayor of Merafong, Maphefo Mogale Letsie encourage the people to have a healthy, balanced lifestyle and always have protected sex.
The purpose of the event was to create awareness of the need to take care of oneself and to educate communities about how to prevent diseases such as HIV/Aids, TB and STI’s, among others.
In addition to highlighting safe sex, the event also promoted exercise, healthy nutrition and living a healthy lifestyle. Young people were also reminded that the outcome of doing drugs is very unpleasant. Senior citizens entertained the crowd with dance, song and exercise to prove that if a person takes care of him or herself, they will live longer. The event was described as a great success.
