Business burglary at Khutsong tavern

A case of business burglary and malicious damage to property has been opened after a tavern was burgled in Khayalethu Section of Khutsong on 15 May. The owner opened shop the following morning to find the broken burglar bars. The steel pipe that was used to break the burglar-proofing and door was found at the scene. A neighbour, who heard the commotion and dogs barking during the night, went to investigate after the suspects had
left. He found alcohol worth R13 000 in a dustbin in the street. It later emerged that a television, cigarettes, airtime
and cash were stolen, among other things. A laptop and loose cigarettes were recovered later. While the suspects are unknown, the owner suspects that a former employee, who was fired a few days before the incident, may have been involved. His whereabouts are not known, however. This was the second break-in to take place at the tavern.
