Car crashes into lamp post leaving man critical

A man, believed to be in his 30s, was left critically injured late Friday night after his vehicle crashed into a lamp post on the Langehoven Road in Vanderbijlpark.

A man, believed to be in his 30s, was left critically injured late Friday night after his vehicle crashed into a lamp post on the Langehoven Road in Vanderbijlpark.

When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene, they found the light motor vehicle smashed against the light pole.
Upon closer inspection, paramedics found that part of the lamp post had broken off, pierced the window and pin the male driver. The female passenger was found walking around on the scene.
Rescue services had to use the jaws-of-life equipment to free the man from the vehicle.
Once freed, paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and was in a critical condition. The woman was found to have sustained only minor injuries.
Paramedics treated the patients and provided the man with advanced life support interventions.
Both patients were later transported to Sebokeng Hospital for frther treatment.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
