A total of 35 patrollers of the 250 volunteers in the Carletonville CPF received awards at an event at Soli Deo recently. This award ceremony, being held for the second year in a row, is unique to the Carletonville CPF and is the only one held in the province. While all the patrollers work tirelessly without any remuneration, the winners walked the extra mile in the fight against crime and its prevention during the past year. Sector 3 in Ext. 5 won the trophy for the sector with the most active patrollers. Mr Dawie Harman (the CPF chairperson) thanked and congratulated each and every patroller for their endless contribution and dedication towards making Carletonville a safer place for all. He also thanked the station commander, Brig. Theron and all the SAPS members working alongside the CPF, the sectors and their patrollers. ‘The community and the police need to work together in the fight against crime and we need more patrollers who can assist in being the eyes and ears of the police,’ he said. He also had a special word of thanks to all the sponsors that had a part in making this Patrollers’ Excellence Awards function such a resounding success.
