One man has been killed and another seriously injured this afternoon when two light motor vehicles collided on the R553 in Vanderbijlpark.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the two wrecked vehicles on the side of the road. Both vehicles had sustained a large amount of damage in the collision.
Upon closer inspection, paramedics found a man, believed to be in his 30s, lying trapped inside of one of the vehicles. Unfortunately, the man had already succumbed to his multiple, fatal injuries. Nothing could be done for the man and he was declared dead on the scene.
The driver of the second vehicle, a man in his 20s, was assessed and found to have sustained serious injuries.
The man was treated for his injuries and thereafter transported to Sebokeng Hospital for further treatment.
Fire services had to use the jaws-of-life equipment to free the deceased from the vehicle.
Local authorities were on the scene to investigate further.
