A man, believed to be in his 20s, was left critically injured this morning when he was knocked over by a light motor vehicle on Malibongwe Road in Renosterspruit, north of Johannesburg.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the man lying in the middle of the road. The light motor vehicle was found a short distance away.
Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained a serious head injury, leaving him in a critical condition.
The man was treated and provided with advanced life support interventions. The man was thereafter airlifted by the ER24 Oneplan Medical Helicopter to Helen Joseph Hospital for further treatment.
The driver of the vehicle was assessed and found to have escaped injury.
Local authorities were on the scene to conduct an investigation.
