Good Samaritan hijacked and robbed near East Drie

A motorist who helped a hitch hiker ran into trouble over this good deed during the past week.

According to the communication officer of the police in Carletonville, Warrant Officer Peter Masoea, Mr. P. Molapo (47) was ready to drive out of Carletonville when the incident took place on 18 April at around 13:50. As Molapo stopped at the stop sign near the 007 shopping complex, he was approached by an unknown man who asked for a lift.
The man asked where Molapo was going, and he replied that he was on his way to the main office at East Driefontein. The man said he was going in the same direction and hopped into the car.
Molapo went for an interview at the mine and on his return noticed the same man who he had given the lift to earlier standing on the side of the road again.
The man told Molapo that he had to get a key from his brother who resides at East Drie village and gave directions on how to get there.
On the way, Molapo noticed that they were near a bush. At the same time, the man told him to cooperate. Suddenly a white car appeared and the men inside, together with the ‘hitchhiker’, forced Molapo into the boot of this second car.
They then drove off with him.
The car stopped after a while and the men demanded the pin to the victim’s bank account. They also took his wallet, which contained a card for his other bank account as well as his Woolworths credit card.
The thugs also took his Huawei P9 cell phone.
They then tied his legs and hands with shoelaces before dropping him off in a bushy area. The men fled with his blue Ford Ranger with registration number JFZ624NW.
Anyone who see the bakkie, or have information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects, must contact the police in Carletonville.
