The communication officer of the police in Carletonville, WO Peter Masooa, says the incident took place on Saturday, 8 February. A parking guard at the Spar supermarket in Oberholzer was watching the vehicles when two men pulled up.
“Go and get a permanent job, not a car guard job,” they reportedly said before assaulting him.
According to the police, they beat the man up and flung him to the ground. They only stopped after the manager of a neighbouring business intervened.
According to the guard, he then left and started walking in South Street, where the two men caught up with him again. They allegedly pulled up in front of him and one threatened him with a firearm.
The police are investigating murder and assault charges following the incident.
