According to information received, the elderly women was previously treated at Fochville Hospital for a different health issue, and from there referred to another hospital in the West Rand.

Three officials at Africa Health Care, which owns Fochville Hospital, did not deny that a Covid-19 positive patient was treated in Fochville Hospital.

The CEO of Africa Health care, Ms Caroline Green, said that she could, according to national Covid-19 protocols, not share any information.

She referred the Herald to the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), the only organization who is allowed to share such information.

Despite several calls to the NICD, the Herald could up to now not get any further detail on the matter. It is also unlikely that further information would be found due to the fact that personnel at the NICD is fighting at the frontline to keep the disease under control, as well as patient anonymity.

This morning government vehicles were seen parked at Fochville Hospital though, as they will help to trace all the people who the patient has contact with and test them to stop the further spread of the disease.
