Sewer leak in Carletonville yard a nightmare

A family in Carletonville and their neighbours hope the municipality will use the lockdown to sort out their sewerage problems.

People living in the area of 28 Cactus Street, just around the corner from the Reinecke Street intersection, pleaded with the newspaper to intervene in the matter.
“The drain has been neglected for almost a year now and the whole community is affected,” a neighbour complained.
Mr Teboho Mosenyehi, who lives in the house, owned by Sibanye-Stillwater, confirms that he has tried to get help many times, without success.
“I had been calling since November last year, but the mine said I should go to the municipality. The municipality tells me to go the mine,” he says.
Meanwhile, a stream of stinking sewage is pouring out of a maintenance hole close to his gate and flowing down the road towards Reinecke Street.
