Thieves target bottle store in Welverdiend

Thieves breaking into shops for prohibited liquor during the lockdown is something that does not only happen in other areas.

According to the police in Carletonville, thieves targeted Soppies Bottle store some- time during the first weeks of the Covid-19 lockdown.
Although everything was in place when personnel closed the business on 26 March, they found it had been hit by burglars when they went to check on 16 April.
The criminals stole cigarettes and alcohol to the value of R5,000. By the time of the newspaper going to print, no one had been arrested.
