K9 members find unlicensed shotgun

Members of the Carletonville K9 dog unit recovered various illegal goods, including an unlicensed shotgun, in the past week.

The Carletonville police’s communication officer, WO Peter Masooa, says members of the unit were doing a routine patrol at the Deelkraal dumping site when they saw a suspicious-looking man sitting outside a shack on the terrain. They went up to the man, introduced themselves and asked for permission to search him.
Although they did not find any-thing illegal on the man, they soon discovered a shotgun next to him.
The man denied that the gun belonged to him and pinned the ownership on “some guy” when the police questioned him.
They searched the site and also discovered ammunition for a 9 mm pistol and the shotgun near where the man was sitting.
They arrested him for being in possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.
