According to the Carletonville police, the incident took place at approximately 22:00 on Tuesday, 25 January. Security officers employed at Western Deep Levels were patrolling the area when the incident happened. They were at the Boundary pump station when thugs, suspected to be illegal miners, started shooting at them. Although bullets hit their bakkie, the security guards escaped without injury. The police are investigating a case of attempted murder.
