Protesting on the main road through Welverdiend is getting more intense. Residents of the Elijah Barayi mega housing complex and Welverdiend are now also closing the main road between Carletonville and Potchefstroom at the turn-off to Elijah Barayi. Motorists who want to travel between Carletonville and Potchefstroom must now use the N12, the R501 with a short route through the veld around the sinkhole near Doornfontein or the Rysmierbult road.
