Zamas set off bomb

The crimes illegal miners or zama-zamas commit at mines in the area seem to have no end.

According to Carletonville police’s communication officer, WO Peter Masooa, an incident took place in East Driefontein on 16 February. Guards at the mine were searching for illegal miners at the Pitseng Shaft at around 14:00 when the incident happened. The guards were busy with the underground operation when three shots were fired in their direction. Immediately after this, a self-made bomb went off close to the security personnel. Luckily, no one was injured and the guards returned to their base. The Carletonville police are investigating an attempted murder case following the incident.
