Farm foreman sentenced for stock theft

The manager had been selling the farmer’s cattle from about 2017.

In a bid to fight stock theft, Jacobus Alexander Diedericks (43) was sentenced to ten years direct imprisonment of which four years were suspended in connection with a stock theft case. This case of stock theft allegedly happened at Roodekop farm near Ventersdorp between 2017 and 2019.
This was discovered when the 78 year old farmer who is also the complainant in the case, demanded to see all of his cattle from his farm foreman, Mr Diedericks in November 2019.
It was then discovered that Diedericks had been selling the farmer’s cattle from about 2017.
“The case was reported to the police and splendid investigation by Stilfontein Stock theft unit led to the arrest of the suspect. 25 stud cattle were also recovered in Randfontein,” said Amogelang Malwetse, spokesperson of SAPS Dr Kenneth Kaunda District.
According to Amogelang, Diedericks made his final appearance before the Potchefstroom regional court on 4 May where he was sentenced.
