Armed robbers grab money

A group of armed robbers ambushed an employee of a well-known Carletonville business while taking money to the bank last week.

The Carletonville police say the incident happened at about 10:10 on 20 June.
The employee of the Caltex filling station on the corner of Annan Road and Gold Street quickly walked across the road to take money to Standard Bank. On his way to the bank, two unknown men walked up to him and grabbed the money bag.
The employee tried to fight back, but the assailants pulled out firearms and shot at him, and he had to run to safety.
The thugs then jumped into a white Mercedes-Benz or Audi and raced away towards Edura.
Police later found two blank 9-mm rounds at the scene.
When the newspaper went to print, the police were still looking for the robbers.
