Road to graveyard a rubbish dump

People without respect for the environment are dumping rubbish on the sides of the road to the Carletonville graveyard again.

People without respect for the environment are dumping rubbish on the sides of the road to the Carletonville graveyard again.

An upset resident who visited the grave of a family member last weekend complained to the Herald about the problem.

The litterbugs started throwing their rubbish on the side of Agate Street at the entrance to the new industrial area.

However, one only gets an idea of the extent of the problem when driving to the graveyard.

Even more rubbish, not only household waste but industrial matter that seems to be pieces of white cloth or paper, lines this road.

According to a business owner who drives this road every day, the dumping seemed to have subsided after the Merafong City Local Municipality cleaned up the previous dumps. However, the problem started again after the municipality recently failed to remove the garbage from homes. In some areas, the rubbish was not removed for weeks on end.

“The rubbish will be picked up soon,” the municipal spokesperson said after the Herald sent questions to them.
