Joburg City Power warns this morning that Rand Water is currently not pumping any water due to electrical problems at its Eikenhof pump station.

Joburg City Power warns that there was a “flash-over” affecting the dedicated transformer supplying electricity to the Rand Water pump station at about 20:00 last night.

City Power teams are currently on site working on the substation. They will be dismantling the feeder board where the flashover occurred, which will take until tonight.

“This may affect the water supply to Joburg and areas west of Joburg, including Mogale City, Krugersdorp, Carletonville, parts of Brits and Rustenburg,” says Isaac Mangena, City Power’s spokesperson.
