A man from Wedela recently received a life sentence for murdering his girlfriend.

The accused, Sankelo Nogada (44), appeared in the Fochville Magistrate’s Court on June 27.

He was sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering his girlfriend, Busiswa Ndinisa, on August 8, 2021. Nogada stabbed Ndinisa with a knife several times in an unprovoked attack which led to her death.

It was found that he had been abusive towards her in the past as well and during an unreported occasion hit her on the head with a machete.

“I am very satisfied with this sentence and it was excellent work by one of our detectives, Sergeant V. Sipunzi. It should send a message to perpetrators of domestic violence that it will not be tolerated in our area,” says the station commander of the police in Wedela, Captain Wayne Pestana.
