Business in industrial area robbed

Two or the robbers were armed.

A robbery took place at a business in Carletonville’s new industrial area on Wednesday, July 3.

The 33-year-old owner of Shazaad Plastic in Kleim Street was in his office at around 18:20 when the incident occurred.

His employees were queueing outside the office for their salaries, when all of a sudden, he heard two gunshots.

Moments later five unknown African men stormed into his office – two of them with firearms.

They forced him to hand over the wages as well as his cellphone. They then demanded more money, and assaulted the owner with a stick when he stated that there was none.

The robbers then fled the scene.

One of them was later arrested when he was caught trying to sell the cellphone.
