Thieves targeting vehicle tyres

Various cases have already been reported.

Carletonville police warn residents to be vigilant as tyre and rim theft is a rising concern.

The Police urges residents not to leave their vehicles or trailers unattended inside their yards or on sidewalks. The reason for this is that criminals target cars on sidewalks and cars in unlocked garages to steal the tyres as well as rims or mags. Several cases have recently been reported.

“Vehicles are only safe when they are locked in garages. If you want to leave your vehicle outside, please remove the wheels yourself and leave it standing on blocks,” a senior police officer advises.

Recent incidents were reported in Oberholzer, Welverdiend and Khutsong Extension 5 this week.
