Carletonville workshop by anti-apartheid activist and journalist Thami Mazwai
The free workshop will be in the Carletonville Sports Centre tomorrow.
Dr Thami Mazwai’s workshop is in Merafong, December 6 at the Carletonville Sports Complex to stimulate change in the lives of young people. The workshops are specifically designed to mentally empower unemployed youth in Merafong and around with knowledge necessary to succeed in today’s world of business.
Earlier in the year Dr Mazwai successfully launched his book titled: ‘The Journey of the Soweto Entrepreneur since 1905′ . The book traces the triumphant journeys of early black pioneers despite the harsh laws of Apartheid. Young people must be encouraged to emulate this spirit of entrepreneurship to shape their futures. The workshop is sponsored by African Bank which also has specific programmes to aid youth with skills to evoke their entrepreneurship in various sectors in communities.
Former journalist and anti-apartheid activist Dr Thami Mazwai as editor says: “A major objective of the workshop is to rekindle the spirit of “Vuka Uzenzele”, a spirit that has seen black communities and the individuals in them rise and build their lives and futures despite the oppression or challenges of the day. It is possible for our youth to rise above the challenges of the day and carve themselves into the future”
The workshops are part of a broader initiative to address poverty, unemployment and economic disparity in communities, aligning with local and national efforts to promote youth entrepreneurship and innovation. “We are thrilled to build on the momentum of our book launch by providing these essential workshops for the youth of Merafong,” said Dr Mazwai, editor of the book, who is also chairman of Mtiya Dynamics. “Our goal is to inspire and equip the next generation of entrepreneurs to drive economic growth and create sustainable businesses that benefit the entire community.”
Dr Thami Mazwai is a former student activist, journalist, editor and currently, a researcher on small business. His passion is on transformation that eradicates poverty, unemployment and inequality (PUI) at the bottom of the pyramid.
