Robbers strike in Carletonville CBD

Everyone must be very careful while walking in Carletonville at night.

An off-duty policeman from Khutsong became the victim of a violent crime in Carletonville this week.

The policeman walked with his cousin to a business on Annan Road to buy some takeaway food on December 3 at approximately 22:30. They were walking back to their home via Diamond Street when two unknown men drove up to them in a dark green Mazda 323.

One of the isiZulu-speaking men inside the car pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the policeman and his cousin.

Both of them decided to run away in different directions.

Unfortunately, the cousin fell and broke her leg, which caused the robbers to catch up with her. They searched her and took her cellphone and shoes.

Although the robber shot at the policeman, the thug luckily missed him.

He took his cousin to Carletonville Hospital after the thugs fled.

The police are investigating armed robbery and attempted murder cases following the incident.
